Papillon
Originating from France, the Papillon is one of the oldest breeds apart of the Spaniel family. The word “Papillon” in French means butterfly, which refers to this toy breed’s ear shape. There is another style of ear that the Papillon can have where they droop down, like a typical spaniel; This style is referred to as “Phalene”, which is French for moth. Both ear types can end up in the same litter of puppies, so Papillons and Phalenes are one in the same.Papillons come in a variety of colors in addition to their white bodies; Lemon, Black, Red, Sable, and Black with Tan. They weigh any where from 5 to 15 pounds, and are very friendly dogs if socialized. They love children, pets, and people if surrounded by them, but Papillons can also become aggressive if isolated. Like any toy dog, these pups have lots of energy and can keep up with an athletic lifestyle, but can also live their lives in your arms
